Manny Out, Viktor's Travels, And Notes

The news that we all knew was coming came: Manny Malhotra is out for the season. Damnit. Even though we all knew it was coming this still sucks hard. Number one penalty killer, top face-off man, and played at full speed every second he was out there. It will be interesting to see who becomes the new third line Center. If Lapierre can grab it, or if they try Raymond in there. This will also put a bigger strain on Kesler, who already sees significant time on the Power Play and Penalty Kill.

Viktor Oreskovich was recalled, again, from Manitoba. That dude has to have enough frequent flyer miles to go around the world at least once now. Forward depth might be a problem, not just because of Manny being gone, but just for quality on the bottom two lines.

Switching things up tomorrow. Not only getting a game preview for the game at Detroit, first one in awhile I apologize, but it will be by my buddy Drew, the founder and resident big shot over at Nightmare on Helm Street. I will be writing the preview over there so please check it out. Although you should be checking it out anyway because it is definitely one of the better NHL blogs out there.

Breaking News From Mike Gillis....Kind Of, But Not Really

Had trouble finding a picture of just Scott Oake and Kevin Weekes. But last night on After Hours on Hockey Night in Canada, we got the pleasure of seeing Ryan Kesler, who apparently has a clothing line now, and Canucks GM Mike Gillis. First off Kelser's clothing line doesn't look all that bad, although, the logos seem to be huge on some of the pieces, but if I have a little disposable income I might get something. Also Kesler dropped an S-Bomb, which was hilarious.

Secondly, Scott and Kevin's interview surrounded mainly around trades when it came to GM Mike Gillis, and he...was less than clear. They asked if he was talking to any other GMs and he said he was talking to all of them. They asked him if he was going to make any deals, or if he was in the process of making any deals, and he responded by saying they are very close to the cap right now, but that doesn't mean they won't consider any deals sent their way. Ok??????? I don't blame him for not being as candid as humanly possible, and I wouldn't want him to lay all the cards on the table, but give us something Mike, I mean even Ken Holland gave us something
